ONE DAY AT A TIME... DEVELOPING AWARENESS FOR 21 DAYS

Coming from the tradition of Kundalini Yoga, where we often use 40-day practices, in Imagine Academy we really believe in the power of small changes. That’s why we propose you to join us on this path, beginning on Day 1 doing 1 repetition of Surya Namaskar A (Sun Salutation), and adding 1 repetition each day to build up to 21 repetitions. By that simple act we learn about commitment, about how small changes really add up to our life, our communities and our planet and in the process we begin to breathe and move more consciously and to develop awareness.

From day 1 to 21 you will receive an email with the practice of the day, adding the correspondent round of Surya Namaskar.  Just click play and begin to practice, learning to connect breath and movement more and more!

WHY PRACTICE SURYA NAMASKAR?

Surya Namaskar has many benefits, this ancient yoga routine engages the core and and the same time helps you to develop strength and flexibility. I also increases cardiac activity and circulation, stretches and relaxes the spine, giving a massage to the internal organs, improves the functioning of the digestive system, exercises the lungs and increases oxygen in the blood.

During the practice, stay focused on your breath, this is the real goal, so we can observe our thoughts and feel our bodies while we do the practice. At the end any yoga practice is a tool to get to know us better and feel the connection with our inner self.

RECCOMENDATIONS

– Choose a schedule: commit yourself to do the practice at the same time everyday. This will help you to develop a routine that would be easier to follow. Our recommendation is to do it first thing in the morning, this will give you energy for the day and a new sense of beggining the day with a different and more positive attitude and will help you include a good habit when you wake up that may substitute social media or texting at that time.

 

– Journal: use a daily journal of your experiences. You don’t have to write anything specific and it does not have to belong. Just write how you feel after every practice or any thought and feelings you consider important. Use at least one line for gratitude, find that one thing you want to be thankful about today and express it!
